Taylor Michele Ross
October 2007

Tayor now has her own dog to show!!!  It's an English Setter called Sailor.  His registered name is Amore's Fashion Your Seat Belt.  Click on his name to see and read about this upcoming star at Winfree.

For the third year in a row, Taylor has qualified for the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship!!!  The show will be held in Long Beach, CA on December 1 and 2, 2007.  I can't begin to express how proud I am of her.

On September 1, 2007, showing Hayden to Judge Mrs. Elizabeth McCarthy, Taylor won First Place in the Open Intermediate class.  There were nine in this class, so she had some tough competition.  Taylor continues to demonstrate what a competent and professional handler she is.  The show was sponsored by the Durham Kennel Club and was held in conjunction with the annual Tar Heel Cluster Labor Day shows in Raleigh, NC.  Location was the NC State Fair Grounds.

Eligibility to enter the National Championship is based on performance in the ring and in the classroom.  Juniors must have 5 first place wins in an Open Class with competition present, be under 18 years of age, and must have a grade point average of at least 3.0 or equivalent for the two semesters immediately prior to the closing of the entries (October 9, 2007).  Taylor has met all the eligibility requirements and she and I both are very excited.

December 16-17, 2006:  What a nice, early Christmas present for both Taylor and me.  Showing Cruiser, Taylor took first place in her Open Intermediate class both days.  The back-to-back shows were part of "The Beach Holiday Classic" held at the Virginia Beach Convention Center and sponsored by the Tidewater Kennel Club of Virginia.  Judging on the 16th was Mrs. Janice Johnson and on the 17th was Mrs. Liz Bianchi.  Merry Christmas, Taylor!!!

Taylor continues to show and perfect her skill as a junior handler.  Once again showing Mary, this time to Judge Thomas Kirstein, Taylor won her Open Junior class at the Virginia Kennel Club-sponsored competition in Richmond on June 24, 2006.  This makes 5 first-place Open Junior wins for Taylor and qualifies her for this year's AKC/Eukanuba National Championship to be held on Long Beach, CA December 2 and 3.  Juniors (under 18) must have 5 first-place wins in an Open Class, earned between October 12, 2005 and October 10, 2006.  The other eligibility requirement relates to their GPA in school.  Taylor doesn't fall short there, either.  She's on the A/B Honor Roll.  Needless to say, I'm a very proud Mom.  Good work, Taylor.  Now it's on to qualify for Westminster!!!

BEST JUNIOR HANDLER!!!!!!!  Taylor won Best Junior Handler on June 4, 2006 at the Moore County Kennel Club Junior Showmanship Competition.  She showed Mary this weekend (Winfree Queen of Scots) and did an outstanding job.  On Saturday, June 3, Taylor won her Open Junior class under Judge Linda Pitts.  On Sunday, she won under Judge Adam King.  We are so thrilled.  Even with a different dog, Taylor demonstrates that she has what it takes to be a competitive handler.  Way to go, Taylor!!!!  The shows were held in Pinehurst, NC.

We're very excited here at Winfree.  My daughter, Taylor, and Cruiser had a First Place win in Open Juniors at the Chesapeake Virginia Dog Fanciers Association show on April 30, 2006.  Judging the Junior Showmanship Competition was Mrs. Barbara Dempsey Alderman.  I'm so proud of Taylor.  She continues to perfect her handling skills and is sometimes tough competition when she helps me out in the breed ring.  Keep up the good work, Taylor.

Number 6!!!  Taylor has her 6th win in Open Junior.  Taylor showed Cruiser to Judge Dr. James Kauffman at the Langley Kennel Club show in Virginia Beach, VA.  This show was part of the Soaring Gull Circuit and held on November 5, 2005.  Congratulations Taylor!!

Taylor has qualified for the January 2006 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship!!!  The show will be held in Tampa, Florida on January 14 & 15, 2006.  I am soooo proud of her and, needless to say, she is thrilled.

At the Tarheel Cluster Labor Day shows (September 2005) in Raleigh, NC, Taylor acquired her 4th and 5th First Place wins in Open Junior.  Showing Cruiser (Ch. Ashbrook Cruise Control) to Judge Mrs. Jill Soble-Smith on September 3rd (Durham Kennel Club) and Judge Mrs. Peggy Kessler on September 5th (Raleigh Kennel Club), Taylor met one of the two eligibility requirements to qualify to enter the event.  The second requirement is that the Junior must have a grade point average of at least 3.0 or equivalent for the two semesters completed immediately prior to the closing of entries and I am proud to say that Taylor was on the A/B Honor Roll all last year.

All Juniors entered will compete in Preliminary classes, in which a specified number of Juniors will be selected by the judges to compete in Finals. Placements are not made in the preliminary classes.  The 2006 judges for Junior Showmanship are Meghen Bassel and Whitney Meeks (Preliminaries) and Mrs. James Edward Clark (Finals).

Taylor continues to shine in the show ring and, at the same time, maintain high grades in school and enjoy her other love, horses (see below).  She's also a very big help around the kennel.  I'm extremely proud of Taylor and her accomplishments and she's just 10 years old.  Keep a watch on this upcoming achiever at Winfree.

Taylor Meets Strider

Get a load of this guy!!!   Strider is a thoroughbred cross and stands 16.3 hands tall.
Taylor said that she didn't want a pony.....  I'd say they'd have a hard time finding a bigger horse!

Taylor and Cruiser have done it again!!!!!  First Place in Open Junior!!!  Taylor showed Cruiser to Judge Dr. Albert P. Bianchi on Saturday, April 30, and to Judge Ms. Marjorie Martorella on Sunday, May 1.  She competed against two other children with their dogs each day.  All the children did an outstanding job; kudos to these future breed-ring handlers.  This was Taylor's fourth time showing in Open Junior and her third First Place win.  What a weekend!!!!  I'm so proud of her.

News from the 2005 Spring Tarheel Cluster
Junior Showmanship Competitions
in Raleigh, NC

Taylor advanced to the Open Juniors class and I am so excited!!!!!

On Saturday, March 26, Taylor showed Cruiser to Judge Allison Johnston in the Raleigh Kennel Club Junior Showmanship Competition.  Taylor was one of six children in the Novice Junior class and was awarded First Place.

Then, on Sunday, March 27, at the Fayetteville Kennel Club Junior Showmanship Competition, Taylor was again one of six children competing, again showing Cruiser, and was awarded her third First Place in the Novice Junior class.  The judge today was Mr. Bob Busby.

These two wins, plus the one she received in October 2004 (see below), gave her the three first place awards she needed to advance to Open Juniors.  Needless to say, I couldn't be more proud.

Soaring Gull Circuit, Virginia Beach, VA -- October 28-31, 2004

Taylor, who turned 10 in September 2004, was in her first AKC Junior Showmanship Competition today (October 30).  She was in the Novice Junior class, with a total of nine beautiful children...... all doing their best.

Taylor showed Cruiser and won FIRST in the Novice Junior class!!!  I was so proud of her and she did a wonderful job.
